Monster-themed Halloween Rice Krispie treats

If you’re on the hunt for a fun, simple activity you can do with your kids this Halloween, these Halloween Rice Krispie treats are perfect for you!

They start with a simple, classic Rice Krispie treat base, and use simple ingredients like white chocolate and candy to turn them into spooky Halloween snacks.

I love this approach in particular because it allows you to make a variety of different monster-themed Rice Krispie treats without having to commit to just one thing without too much effort. We made two batches of Rice Krispie treats for this – one of them is just the plain, standard Rice Krispie treats, and on the second batch we added some green food dye to make a couple of different monsters.

You can, of course, do all sorts of different options – like adding orange dye to make pumpkins, or different colors for other monsters. The sky’s the limit, because monsters can look like whatever you want them to.

And who doesn’t want a monster-y Rice Krispie Treat this Halloween?

Mummy Rice Krispie Treats

Mummy Rice Krispie Treats

These are one of the simplest ones we made, and the result is so dang adorable! I love this one for eating, too, because there isn’t a lot to detract from the flavor of the Rice Krispie treat itself. – it tastes very classic!

You’ll need…

  • White icing, in a piping bag
  • Candy

How to do it:

  • Start by piping the icing onto the Rice Krispie treat in a zig-zag pattern, from top to bottom. Tighter lines will look more like wrappings!
  • Add two small dots of icing near the top for eyes
  • Place two candy eyes on the mummy

Monster Rice Krispie Treats

One-eyed monster Rice Krispie treats

I’m honestly not sure exactly what type of monster this guy is supposed to be. Is he a ghost? A ghoul? Is he an alien? Who knows! But, he sure is cute. This is the simplest, fastest one to make!

You’ll need…

  • White chocolate melting wafers
  • Food dye (any color, we used orange)
  • Candy eyes
  • Gummy worms (optional)

How to do it:

  • Melt the white chocolate in your microwave (45 seconds and a lot of stirring should do the trick). Add 3-4 drops of food coloring in whatever color you’d like.
  • Dip the top of each Rice Krispie treat into the melted chocolate, tilting it a bit as you work so it can drip down the treat.
  • Add one candy eye to each monster.
  • If you’d like, you can also add some other candy, like gummy worms just for a fun flair. This was my oldest son’s idea, and we just rolled with it.

Alien Rice Krispie Treats

You’ll need…

  • Icing in a piping bag (I used the same white from the mummies, but use whatever you have on hand!)
  • Candy eyes
  • Dum-Dum suckers

How to do it:

  • Crunch the Rice Krispie treats into a round ball
  • Pipe a large smile and three dots for eyes
  • Add candy eyes
  • Stick two Dum-Dum suckers into the top to create antennae
